The PADI IDC is being held here at Dan’s Dive Shop and will run over consecutive days starting before the IE and finishing with the PADI Instructor Exams within reach.

About the PADI IDC
The IDC program runs over 8 consecutive days including the Emergency First Response Instructor Course. The PADI Instructor Exam (IE) is then scheduled concurrently 2 days following the IDC. The day preceeding the exam can be used at the candidates discretion; to practice skills with a mentor, practice presentations refresh dive theory or more importantly just simply relax and mentally prepare.
The PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) is the cornerstone of PADI’s professional-level training and is designed to prepare qualified candidates to become PADI Instructors. The course has two components, the Assistant Instructor Course (AI) and the Open Water Scuba Diver Instructor Course (IDC). Together the two courses combine to encompass the entire IDC. Both courses must be completed before attending the PADI Instructor Examination (IE).
Working closely with our PADI IDC team you will gain hands on experience, and formal training in helping to develop you into the best Instructor you can be. With over 20 years of experience in diver education, our IDC team has developed unique and innovative instructor training techniques and specialized workshops, designed specifically to help ensure your success at your Instructor Examination.

To prepare for your IDC, DDS includes free pool time prior to the course start date. Come out and practice your buoyancy, Open Water Demo skills or just swim laps. Pool time available Saturday afternoons twice a month.

IDC Program Requirements
IDC candidates must:
Be at least 18 years of age
Have been a certified diver for at least 6 months
Be certified as a PADI Divemaster, PADI Assistant Instructor or equivalent qualifying rating.
Have a current dive medical signed by a physician (less than 12 months old from last day of IE)
Have a current First Aid certificate less than 24 months old
Show proof of a minimum of 100 logged dives
Have all required diving equipment
Have all books requested by the Course Director (as per materials)
Submit copies of all Dive Certificates
Academic
The IDC teaches you to conduct all PADI core courses. You’ll be able to organize and present information, conduct skill development sessions and control open water dives. Basically, you become a better public speaker and get really good at demonstrating skills while watching out for student diver safety. Key topics include:

Getting Started
PADI’s eLearning option that lets you study independently at your own pace before class. There are nine interactive knowledge development sections. Prestudy online saves classroom time, which allows more time for practicing the skills that distinguish you as a PADI Instructor.
Also, sign up for Dive Theory Online, if you haven’t already completed it or it’s been more than a year since you went through it. The program is a straightforward review of dive physics, physiology, skills, equipment and environment, plus using the Recreational Dive Planner (RDP).

PADI IDC Costs
PADI Instructor Development Course: $3995 + HST
PADI Exam & Appplication & EFR Instructor Fees: $1295 + HST
Includes IDC (AI+OWSI) & EFR Instructor Course + all training materials.
Our course price includes all material required for the course, including the comprehensive e-learning component.
We ask for a 50% non-refundable deposit to register, balance due May 10, 2024.
Please note DDS will provide all air and any additional tanks needed. You have full access to any additional training materials in our classroom while doing the IDC. All candidates are expected to own their own scuba gear in good working order.
