Dive Mona Island, Puerto Rico Liveaboard

December 3, 2022 - December 9, 2022

Two Spots Open!

Dive Mona Island, Puerto Rico with Dan’s Dive Shop as we dive  “Galapagos of the Caribbean” from December 3-9, 2022.

This trip is not to be missed if you enjoy exploring sites less travelled.

Mona Island is an ecological reserve with very few dive boats visiting its waters. Let the experienced crew of The Juliet show you the Island’s underwater marine paradise. Mona Island is one of the last untouched coral reef systems and is sometimes referred to as the Galapagos of the Caribbean. Pristine reefs and amazing diversity, ranging from 30-60’ reefs at Desecheo, bottomless walls at Mona, and sheer cliff faces from the surface down to 100’ at Monita. Lots of large schooling pelagics, and many different species of shark are common, and they’re quite curious! If you have a diving bucket list, this should be on it!

You will spend six nights sleeping, sailing and diving aboard The Juliet on this trip. You can expect to do up to 18- 20 dives on your trip, 4 dives per day including one night dive on every dive day except departure day. Most dives in Mona Island are drift dives. Expect water temperatures to be 24-27C suitably for a 3mm Full suit with optional layer. All divers must be experienced and Nitrox certified with 32% supplied onboard. The boat is rebreather-friendly and can accommodate side-mount divers. Fresh water rinse and charging stations are available for photographers.

About the Juliet:

The Juliet is a 103′ three-masted schooner, with four sails: a fore sail, main sail, mizzen sail, and a large red jib at the front, or bow, of the boat.

On board you will be provided with three hot meals per day, snacks, and hors d’oevres, as well as pop, juice, beer, wine & liquor. For entertainment during your surface intervals there is an extensive DVD library and flat screen television, Sirius Radio and you can play your iPod or mp3 player on deck or in the salon. On deck you will find an expansive sundeck for lounging, additional seating for al fresco dining, a crow’s nest in which you can take a watch, 12 tank stations with large private gear holds where tanks are immediately refilled, and a top-side shower with plenty of hot fresh water.

The Juliet has 6 air conditioned private cabins, comfortably sleeping 2 people per cabin, either in one large bed or with a convenient fold-down bunk for separate sleeping arrangements. Ensuite versus Standard. Ensuite simply means there is a private head and shower in the cabin, standard cabins share 3 heads and 2 shower areas throughout the boat. For detailed information about the cabins you can tour the boat here.

Please note this trip is only for Experienced Divers who are Nitrox certified.

This destination is recommended for experienced divers, due to the potential for rougher surface conditions and unpredictable currents. The winter months bring great surfing conditions to the west coast of Puerto Rico – but large surf-able swells can make for challenging entries and exits. Don’t worry though, Juliet’s experienced crew always has safety as our highest priority

Due to the remoteness of the location and the depth of the dives (most over 60′), Nitrox certification is required for all divers joining this trip.
