SCUBA DIVING COSTA RICA

The water in Costa Rica is nutrient rich with plankton which attracts tons of marine life and huge schools of fish. Underwater volcanic rock pinnacles with an abundance of colorful fish and marine life for exciting and fun diving. Diving the Pacific is a completely different experience than Caribbean waters.

DIVE SITES

Gulf of Papagayo (Guanacaste/ Northern Pacific) – Over 20 dive sites on submerged pinnacle packed full of life within a 10 to 20-minute boat ride from shore. It is common to see squadrons of eagle rays, schooling cow-nosed rays, horse-eyed jacks, snapper, grunts, and puffers. Schools of white-tipped reef sharks are often seen taking a siesta on the sandy bottom.

Catalina Island – This archipelago of 20 small island  is a cleaning station for pelagics and offers  some  great  diving with frequent encounters with stingrays, bat rays, devil rays, mobula rays,  eels, sea turtles. This dive spot offers a great opportunity to dive with Pacific Giant Mantas which can be a common sighting in December.

DIVE CONDITIONS

In December divers can expect calmer seas and visibility reaching 100 feet. Water tempertures should be in the mid to high 70s F (23-25 C) at depth. Conditions can include surge and current, especally at Catalina Islands, but should be minimal in December.

DIVE PLAN

All diving is boat diving. Two AM dives per day with pick up at RUI Guanacaste, returning after lunch. Diving includes tanks and weights. Nitrox fills are available $15 per tank. Dive days are December 7-11, including diving Catalina Islands on Dec 9th.

RUI GUANACASTE ALL INCLUSIVE RESORT

Rui Guancaste is situated in northern Costa Rica directly on Matapalo beach. This beautiful beach front resort has several restaurants and bars to choose from for your dining options, 3 swimming pools and a whirlpool bath. Other highlights include a wide ranging entertainment programme for adults, Splash Water World waterpark and free WiFi throughout hotel. The resort is located right next to a nature park and monkey bar and only 3 kms to the nearest town.

HOTEL ROOM

Each room has two small double beds (125×200 cm) or one king-size bed (200×200 cm), satellite TV, air conditioning, a minibar and beverage dispenser, and a balcony or terrace. All rooms are double occupancy. Upgrade to an Ocean View Room for only +$150 CDN per person.

ADVENTURE COMBO TOUR – GUACHIPELIN

Visit a lush, tropical jungle on this full day 8.5 hour group tour. The Adventure Tour provides high adrenaline excitement and adventure. Your day will include a canopy tour, rock climbing, tubing, tarzan swing, via ferrata, and hanging bridges, those are just the first activities you will do in the morning.

Then a delicious lunch to get our energy back for the next activity, horseback riding through the dry forest and beautiful pasture land.  Your day will finish with relaxing in hot water pools, water that comes directly from the volcano Rincon de la Vieja, also cover your body with volcanic mud extremely therapeutic. The Rincon de la Vieja Volcano being the most important part of the beautiful panoramic views that you will be seeing during the day.

Guanacaste is an ecotourist’s dream, as a habitat to hundreds of species including exotic birds, monkeys, sloths, armadillos, iguanas, coatis, and tree frogs.

CANCELLATION POLICY If you cancel prior to October 1st, 2024 the deposit is non-refundable. Cancellations after October 1st, 2024 are 100% non-refundable. You can transfer all payments to a new guest up until November 28th, 2024 for a $250 fee.
