The Helitrox Diver course teaches you how to plan and execute a dive on Helitrox (Nitrox with Helium) that may require stage decompression and utilize EANx or oxygen for stage decompression. This course is designed to teach you the benefits of utilizing Helium on dives to a maximum depth of 150' that may require stage decompression, utilizing EANx mixtures or oxygen during decompression.
During your training, you’ll complete at least four open water dives diving Helitrox mixtures 26% oxygen / 17% helium) of which at least one will be a repetitive dive. Upon successfull completion of the program, divers have the choice of adding more helium within the depth and training spectrum of this course. Your studies will include the knowledge necessary to plan and safely execute Helitrox dives including gas needs and requirements, oxygen toxicity limitations, nitrogen narcosis limitations, and emergency planning, including omitted decompression, oxygen toxicity, decompression sickness, and equipment failure. The skills introduced start the body and mind working as one unit developing survival skills and instincts needed for serious diving.
Topics covered will also include emergency and contingency procedures, entry and descent techniques; inert gas narcosis and oxygen toxicity; variable ascent-rate techniques and deep-stop models; diver trim, ballast and buoyancy compensation; decompression options; shore or boat based dive team support and chamber locations; communications and emergency breathing gases; and NAUI Technical Equipment Configuration (NTEC).
A great course for anyone interested in diving deeper safely using a better breathing medium than air and a perfect stepping stone into Trimix. This course is a deep diving prep course that offers a safer breathing alternative to air and works well as a combination course with Technical Nitrox and Decompression Procedures. Deeper diving can open your world up to bigger, deeper, better diving that is more enjoyable, more fullfilling and with the aid of the helium easily remembered afterwords.
Candidates must be 18 years or older, hold the certifications of Intro to Tech and Technical Nitrox, have Deep Diving Experience.
Students will be expected to have maintained their skills at the level of Intro To Tech prior to the Start of this intensive training process. We have returned back to our most successfull format of consecutive sessions over a string of 4-7 days straight. We will no longer drag courses out waiting for you to improve, you will either pass or fail.
