Additional Details
All too often in diving people think they don't need training in specialized areas such as wreck, cave or overhead environment diving. These people don't always live. The need for proper training in these specialized areas gives divers mandatory skill sets that aren't often covered in other training courses, technical or otherwise, as the other courses are designed to introduce a variety of skills needed to improve the diver in an open water environment (NO Overhead Environment). Even the most experienced technical divers should take this course.
There are inherent hazards and risks associated with exploring an underwater wreck, inside a sunken vessel, aircraft or similar structure. The only way to safely engage in overhead environment diving is to obtain proper training while under the direct supervision of an instructor. You will experience a series of scenarios that could likely happen in this specalized environment. There are many valuable bits of information, skill sets and drills that will improve your chances of survival and of course the enjoyment you will experience in a wreck diving environment.
You’ll learn about safety, hazards and special risks of overhead environments; gas management, entanglement, limited visibility, deep diving, equipment, sources of information, search methods, underwater navigation, legal aspects, artifacts, treasure, salvage, archaeology and appropriate material from other specialty courses as well.
The best part of this course is the hands on open water training sessions where students will learn how to execute a lost line drill, engage in air sharing while following lines, blacked out mask drills, lift bag deployments, anti-silting techniques, bail out situations, emergency procedures and much more!
If you have NAUI Advanced Scuba Diver (or equivilant) and NAUI Wreck Diver (External Survey) certifications and are at least 18 than you are ready to enroll in this amazing program, however, NAUI Intro to Tech is a course we'd recommend in addition to this one.
Proper NTEC equipment Configuration is mandatory. All divers must have proper gas supply for planned dives, redudant scuba system, reel, lift bag or marker buoy, back up reel, proper lighting, a minimum of 2 cutting tools and more.
This course is also needed to progress into the NAUI Technical Wreck Penetration Course.
Cost is only $495 + HST
