Diving Sidemount was
once thought to be only for the advanced cave diver,
but now open water divers are experiencing this wonderful
style of diving, which adds redundancy, simplicity
and a more streamlined diver profile in the water.
Learn about the development, configuration and techniques
needed to safely dive sidemount as an open water diver.
We use the Diverite Nomad XT, EXP and the new JT
systems as our main sidemount systems, but have also
got experience using the Armadillo, Hollis SMS1000
and have worked on various other configurations. We are looking forward to testing out the NEW Hollis SMS 50 Sidemount system soon too.
You will learn:
The history of sidemount diving Reasons and opportunities for sidemount diving Equipment considerations and rigging for sidemount
diving How to manage equipment problems Skill refinement including buoyancy, trim, weighting,
fin techniques, gas management, air sharing, emergency
procedures, SMB deployment and more.
You will complete 1 academic session, gear rigging
session, confined water pool session and 4 Open Water
Dives.
Cost is only $399ea +HST (based on a minimum of 4
students) $500ea+HST (1-2 students) $599 Private local. Does not include certification fee ), admission
fees, or rental of any equipment).
We love sidemount diving and have been hosting sidemount workshops and educational experiences since 2007.
Students from dive stores, clubs and individuals
located out of town can benefit from this course as
we can come to you or you can do the course on site with us.
Divers are required to have a complete STEC (Sidemount
Technical Equipment Configuration) a standardized sidemount configuration promoting the same principles as our backmounted gear configuration NTEC (NAUI Technical Eqiupment Configuration).
